In A Pool of Sunshine

After snoozing
in a pool of sunshine,
she sprints
across the furniture
banking off couch cushions,
chair pillows,
and the ottoman.

Solar-powered dog.

  1. Sweet! My cats never have that reaction to sleeping in the sun...

    1. Thanks, Jama! She mostly makes me smile except when I'm sitting on the couch when she gets her burst of energy. LOL! =)

  3. Bridget, your poem brings a picture of the solar-powered dog (wonderful!)to mind immediately. I love the way the structure of the poem evokes the bouncing off cushions and furniture.

  4. Awesome! I guessed your super-powered subject was a child, until the last line. My dog is like Tabatha's cats -- a pool of sun is an open invitation to naptime.

    1. We've actually been cold here in Tucson. I think she does her "rounds" on the furniture to warm up. Thanks for commenting. =)

  6. You had me at "pool of sunshine" and "solar-powered dog." My friend's pomeranian, Bingo, is a ball of energy herself, especially when she sees me pick up the mailbox key. Dogs are adorable, aren't they? Thank you for sharing this. Made me smile. Big. =)

    1. Thank you, Robyn! Yes, our Smidgey goes "bonkers" on a regular basis - but more so in the cold weather when she wants to warm up. Thanks for reading my poem. =)
