Mama's Definition of Labor Day

In honor of Monday's holiday, here is another perspective on Labor Day -
it is not always celebrated in September. :o)

Forty-two weeks,
ready to go.
Off to the hospital
for baby to show.

Contractions increase,
"Breathe 1-2-3!"
Can't get comfy,
do what with my knees?

Finally Doc says,
"Give a big push!"
Out comes baby,
head, belly and tush.

And when I saw at Jone's blog that you had a Labor Day poem, it was a great set up, as I expected something else..

  8. Labor indeed and well worth a celebration. I guess we could say this kind of labor is celebrated every time someone celebrates a birthday.

  12. I enjoyed it too, Bridget...but mine would have to include this stanza:

    I'm feeling the urge
but I can't scratch that itch...
    Babe emerges through belly--
    Oh, what a stitch.

  13. Okay, Bridget, I'm going to try this one more time... I tried to leave a comment twice on Friday, but apparently it got swallowed up both times. :o/ Ha! You thought you could fool me with that labor day set up, but I know how your mind works. ;) "Do what with my knees" totally cracked me up! And "tush"? Quite possibly one of my top 10 favorite words. Thanks for your delightful sense of humor!

    1. Sorry, Michelle! I've been told by other people that commenting can be tricky. Great minds think alike - I love your sense of humor, too. Yes, "tush" is one of those words that capture so much in 4 little letters. = )
