Camera Roll 23 (+2): Barack Star

How is it possible that it is the last weekend in May?

Today's 23-word poem (+2) is actually a look back to the last weekend in April...and a previous US President.

Happy Memorial Day weekend to my US folks.

And Happy Whit Monday (29 May) to my Zug readers.

The perfect long weekend for reading poetry!

  1. Happy Memorial Day weekend to you!
Second, I love your hot socks. How couldn't I? I'm not from the US, but I thought (and think) that Obama is great. Your poem exudes the joy you must have felt listening to him speak.

    1. Thanks, Lou! There was a lot of joy in the sold out arena. Who would have thought in Switzerland? I sure miss him...and Michelle (who by the way was not there, unfortunately.)

    1. Thanks, Rose! I love my Barack socks...a gift from my girls when he was still President. They 'fit' the occasion perfectly. ;)

    1. Thanks, Tabatha! And...bwa-ha-ha on the SNL song clip! I forgot about that one, but it's apt today as it was then, except Joe is nothing like the last guy. Just too old.

  4. So JEALOUS! Not sure which I'd rather have: the socks or the talk! What I love is the joy and hope that sings through your poem, Bridget. We have to believe there exists the possibility that we might have Obama-style leadership again in our future! And then of course, we have to be the change we wish to see.

    1. Thanks, Patricia! Yes, I believe there will be a positive change in the short term...and I try to be that change as well, but I do get nostalgic. :)

    1. Thanks, Jama! Unfortunately the socks were hidden by my jeans, but I knew they were there giving me happy feet.

  6. Awesome that you were there! I, with my husband, was at the Democratic Convention here in Denver when he was chosen as their candidate, so, so exciting. Love your wishing about the 22nd Amendment. It's tragic how things changed. Happy weekend to you, Bridget!

    1. You witnessed history, Linda! SO cool! My hope is we'll witness history with a positive (uber pro-democracy!) candidate in the short term. Fingers crossed. :)

  7. How wonderful! I wish I could have been there too. He's such a thoughtful speaker. There are some folks I'm glad have term limits...this is not one of them.

    1. It would have been fun to go with you, Linda! Barack is a swoon-worthy speaker...every listener was rapt with attention - most of which English is their second language! :)

    1. Thanks, Karen! It was pretty funny, every time he mentioned Michelle's name the crowd went nuts. He said, "I'm under no illusion that I am the 4th most popular Obama, behind the dog." Ha! :)

    1. It was a lovely surprise that he had this talk scheduled in Switzerland of all places! After Zurich he went to Amsterdam and then Berlin. Not sure the objective, other than spreading the love. :)
