Don't be surprised
if you happen to see
a pirate, a ghoul,
a groovy hippie.
Tonight's the night
to see and be seen.
Have your treats ready,
it's Halloween!
Be sure to visit Linda at Teacher Dance - she has many Poetry Friday treats to share.
(and none will cause tooth decay!)
HH, Bridget! I picture you as the groovy hippie :). As for me, my fantasy costume would probably be a big pie.
ReplyDeleteHH to you too, Jama! I love the thought of you dressed as a pie, but what flavor?
DeleteTrying again, just to see if it will work! Happy Halloween Bridget!
ReplyDeleteSuccess, Linda! My apologies about the comment system - I shake my fist at Blogspot. Happy Halloween to you, too! = )
DeleteLet me guess, you're the groovy hippie... oh, that's right, you're a poet-tree. :) Have fun tonight, Bridget!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle! Being a groovy hippie would be fun because of the tie-dye. Poet-tree is this year's costume du jour. =)
DeleteNo pirates nor hippies coming to visit us. We haven't had a trick or treater for over 14 years now. Guess we are just too far out. Ha! I just got that. Far out!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna! Wow, no trick or treaters! Can't imagine it. Far out is right! =)
DeleteGroovy hippies! Love the image.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jone! "Peace!" =)
DeleteTo see and be seen -- so right! It's so much fun to see the costumes. We were visited by a couple of particularly young ones last night (still at the being carried stage) and they could really dress up as anything and still make me melt. Too bad Halloween only comes once a year!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Tabatha! I love the tiny baby trick-or-treaters - so cute! And we know who would be eating their candy later. LOL =)
DeleteWouldn't it be fun to run into a groovy hippie on Halloween night?!
ReplyDeleteYes, Tara, then you could say, "peace" as they pass you on the street. Oh, and happy Halloween! =)
DeleteBridget, your poem is delightful. Our costumed characters were filling the streets with merriment. I hope you consider writing a poem accompanied by a photo for the Finding Fall Gallery (http://beyondliteracylink.blogspot.com/2014/09/falling-into-place-as-season-turns.html).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol! I'm going to try my best to come up with something for the Fall Gallery this week. =)
