Camera Roll (way less than) 23: Pit-iful Haiku

A poem about the beginning of a plant's life cycle may seem out of place as we slide into fall, so I am sharing this 1 minute chlorophyll deficient Jim Gaffigan clip that I hope you will find more fitting for the season. 😂

I'm happy to be back among my Poetry Friday peeps!

Check out this week's offerings at Jama's Alphabet Soup where you can get "Down With Poetry".

  3. Hahaha... I second Irene's comment. That avocado trick is a lesson in patience, but we all need one of those, right??? I will carry on loving "the foliage" in spite of Gaffigan, though he does make me laugh. Thanks Bridget!

    1. Thank you! Yes, fall is my favorite season, but the thought of foliage as hospice for trees cracks me up. Avocado growing is definitely about patience. (My reply above reverted to anonymous, too. Blasted Blogger!)

  5. Ha! to Jim Gaffigan, Bridget. Is that his real name. It, too, is a laugh, a real 'Gaff'! I've done so many of the avocado tricks, letting them grow & hoping for more than the leaves, but it doesn't happen, though I especially like the first sprouting - very cool! Happy Fall! : )

    1. Thanks, Linda! Yep, that's his real name. Never thought about how funny it is considering he is a stand up comedian. Yes, always excited by the sprouting, but rarely get past a few leaves... Maybe this time?

  7. Funny. Have you ever successfully grown an avocado plant? It would be fun to try with kids.

    1. Thanks, Margaret. I haven't gotten one to the point where I can put it in soil, though my dad did once. If I'm lucky I get the sprouts/leaves, but then it usually molds in the water. Boo.

  8. We started so many avocado trees when I was a kid! My mom got one to almost two feet tall once!

    1. I'm impressed with your mom's green thumb, Mary Lee! My dad did get one to the point of transplanting into the ground, but then it died. So far, I've not had a lot of luck. Oh well...

  10. I've heard you can grow a pineapple from its top? I think I tried that once but didn't get anywhere. Good luck with your avocado! Thanks for the foliage clip :)

  11. Bridget, it's good to have you back! Tabatha and Bridget, I have a pineapple top and an avocado seed tree both growing on my counter. I like "avocado pit sprouts legs."

    1. Thanks, Denise! Color me impressed, both a pineapple top and avocado seed growing in your kitchen? Your thumbs are much greener than mine! Well done!
